Frankly either making the butter the way I described it, or making it the boiling water method is easiest. Making tinctures and oils is a pain, and taste like complete crap. Don’t put raw pot in food as it won’t carboxylate, which is the heating process to make the thc become available to your body. That’s why making butter or oils is the best way to ingest it. You can use it just like you would butter, you can make candy from it, or brownies, or whatever, but why go to all that trouble to have pot tasting candy and food? I don’t find it unpleasant by itself, but I would in my eggs, or pizza, or whatever. I too have COPD issues (61), so I eat butter instead of smoking. The difficult part about making butter is depending on where you are, weed can be really expensive. If you make it the way I described above, just make sure it isn’t getting too hot. If it starts foaming too much, take it off the heat for a bit, turn the heat down a little, and put it back on. You want somewhere between medium to medium low heat depending on your stove. I don’t think this is the answer you’re looking for, but this is what I know. If you want the boiling water method I’ll post it for you. It’s more time consuming, but probably safer since you have no prior experience making butter directly on heat. I used to be a chef, so it’s like making Hollandaise sauce without a double broiler. I’m just used to doing it this way. And one more word of caution, it makes your house stink, really, really stink. So keep the windows closed and don’t have the grandkids over for a day or two 😉

Brownies, I take about 10 grams of flower and grind the holy hell out of it, take a store bought brownie mix and put in the mix and bake just like the box says. BOOM 23 minutes later I have small brownie bits that will knock your socks off. I have no idea the strength as that was my old method of using it. I did not Decarb it I just ground it and cooked it all together. YES it has a strong weed smell but the taste is not too bad.

First, take the bud and put it in the coffee grinder, turning it in to a powder. Don’t try to put all of it in at once. Grinding about 7 grams at a time usually works pretty well. Once all of the marijuana is ground up, carefully pour it in. Use a funnel of some sort to make sure that you get all of it. Then, take about 7-8 ice cubes and place them on a washcloth. Fold the top of the washcloth over and hit the cubes with the rubber mallet until they’re almost powder. Pour that in to the milk jug as well. Next, add cold water to the jug, bringing the level of the substance 3/4″ of an inch above where the marijuana level was.

We recommend slightly amending your decarb time based on the moisture levels in the starting material; very dry material will need less time and fresher material will need significantly more time (it needs to dry and then decarb). In our experience, it is better to overdo the decarb than to come up short and not fully activate your cannabinoids. For reference, if you continue to decarb once all of the THCa has converted to THC, it will begin to convert to CBN, the strongest sedative of the known cannabinoids. Accordingly, if you desire sleep-inducing edibles, you should leave the tray of material in the oven longer than is suggested on this chart. The length of additional time will impact the ratio of THC to CBN in the edibles.
While historians have found recipes involving weed dating back to 15th century Europe and even 10th century India, pot brownies were introduced to pop (or should we say “pot”?) culture in the 1968 movie “I Love You Alice B. Toklas.” Objectively, the most common way to make weed-laced snacks is marijuana butter, but baking with cannabis oil can be even more effective. While these two products have many similar uses and come from the same plant, they’re produced and used in very different ways.
In most instances, oil will rise to the top of the water but won’t solidify. No problem. You can use a spoon to skim the oil off the water. Even better is a kitchen gadget called a gravy separator that looks like a small pitcher with the spout originating on the bottom. This unique design allows the water to be poured out while retaining every drop of the oil floating at the top. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, gravy separators are sold everywhere, otherwise find them at gourmet shops. You can also find extra large gravy separators year round at restaurant supply stores.
Best advice? Don’t ruin food with weed. Eat some cannabutter on a cracker, with some peanut butter if you’re a wimp, then eat your food without the a** taste of weed. And the advice about getting the food too hot is complete nonsense. You smoke weed, vape it, at temperatures far higher than recommended here, and guess what? You get high. Want some oil or butter in 30-40 minutes? As a starter batch, melt 2 sticks of unsalted butter, and add a 1/4 ounce of ground up bud. Cook it medium to medium low, watching for foaming. When it starts foaming, turn it down a bit, and keep taking it off the heat. Once you have the butter at simmer, all the moisture in the weed will bubble out. Once the weed quits foaming, you’re done. Use a strainer to get it into a heat resistant container, and don’t burn your fool self. Let it cool, then put it in the fridge to solidify. Once it’s hardened you can put in a baggie or container so your fridge doesn’t stink like cannabutter. Once you get practiced up, it’s a cinch. No sense jacking around for hours on end when you can get ‘er done in less than an hour. Good luck, and DON’T BURN YOURSELF! And when you test it, go easy, and wait at least 3 hours to make sure you don’t eat too much and make yourself miserable.
