I’ve used distillate for cooking and had amazing results. Seeing as how the distillate is already decarbed, I used a double boiler. I used 2 cups of unrefined coconut oil. I dissolved the oil in the double boiler then added the distillate. Simply let it melt in to the oil for about 10 minutes on a low temp. Some of the strongest edibles I have ever made.

Start off by preheating your oven to 350 degrees and combining both the Chex cereal and the pretzels in a large mixing bowl and stir them together. Then, in a medium saucepan begin to melt the cannabutter and when it’s melted, stir in the garlic powder, salt, and Worcestershire sauce. While that simmers (as always, never boil the cannabutter or you’ll lose the THC), spread the cereal and pretzels mix on a cookie sheet and pour half of the butter mix over them using a spatula and spoon. Toss the remaining butter mixture well while you bake the trail mix on the cookie sheet for five minutes. When the five minutes is up, repeat the previous step, pouring the butter over the cookie sheet. Let the mix cool and then sprinkle some crushed cannabis over the top and toss it together. Once you do that, your trail mix is ready to be packaged up and enjoyed!

Hello from the Yukon Territory. I’m a senior citizen and relatively new to this edibles game. I’ve started growing my own, outdoors, without too much fanfare. My plants (about 1/2 doz) make a few buds, that are far from high quality. All I do is dry my plants, grind them up in a food processor till close to the consistency of flour, and make small cookies. I use a half teaspoon for measuring the batter–cute little green ovals. My niece and I call them “beetles”. I’m happy with the buzz I get, and it helps with a few aches and pains I get from my senior age, but reading here and elsewhere, I see there is a lot more to the science behind it all. I’m also realizing that a lot of you may find it perhaps crude that I just cook with the pot the way I do, but I’m happy with the simplicity, and will probably continue with this method. However, do I deduce correctly, that my finished product will be better if I heat my dried and ground pot first in the oven, for 20 minutes at 250 degrees, before I make my beetles?

When cannabis is legalized on Oct. 17, Canadians still won’t be able to buy weed brownies in the store. Edible pot products aren’t part of the initial roll-out out, and there’s no word yet on when they will be available. You can, however, buy your own cannabis and turn it into special brownies, cookies and pretty much anything else you can dream up. Here’s how to do it.
Heat up your grill on low/medium heat and cut your peach in half. Coat the fruit with the cannabis coconut oil that you have and sprinkle cinnamon over the halves. Put a piece of tinfoil on the grill and once it is warm enough, place the peaches on for about five minutes. They should be warm but not too hot. If they get too hot, they will turn to mush so be careful to keep an eye on them. While the peaches are grilling, you can quickly gather the ingredients for the balsamic vinaigrette. Put all of the greens in a large bowl and top it with the blackberries.
Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees and spray two 12-muffin pans with cooking spray. In a large bowl, whisk together the baking powder, salt, and flour. Separately, whisk together the sugar, melted cannabis butter, milk, vanilla, and eggs and then add in the flour mixture until the substance is slightly moist. Cannabinoids (THC and CBD) bind to fat, so it’s best to create a cannabis infusion with butter, oil or cream to use in edibles. For beginners, veteran baker and cannabis advocate Amy Brown (a.k.a. Amy Anonymous) suggests choosing a recipe that uses butter and making cannabutter by heating water, butter and that decarboxylated cannabis in a large saucepan. Leafly recommends a 1:1 ratio: 1 cup of butter and 1 cup of weed (about 7 to 8 grams), plus a little water. Don’t boil the mixture — keep it just below a simmer for two to six hours. To avoid a grassy flavour or any unpleasant texture and to keep your cannabutter from going rancid too quickly, strain out the plant matter using cheesecloth.
This product may be applied to an “oil rig” for the highest intensity medication possible. An oil rig is a device used much like a traditional water pipe, or bong, which uses a heated element, usually titanium or quartz, to heat up the High CBD Hash Oil to a critical temperature. The oil is vaporized, channeled through water filtration for cooling, and inhaled by the user in a large concentration. This produces a less-bodied smoke that is not as thick as cannabis-plant smoke but equally expansive in the lungs and cough inducing.

I am the only person I know of who does not recommend you finely grind your weed. I do not understand whay so many people are obsessed with finely grinding the plant material. What you are trying to extract is ON the plant, not in it. The more grinding, the more plant particulate in your food and the yuckier the flavor, IMO. I use a coarse hand grinder or my fingers to break up the plant material, no more.
An important step, decarboxylation, will maximize the THC content of the plant material you use to make concentrated oil. Catalano recommends baking plant material at 220 degrees for 25 minutes. “Everyone has a different time and temperature for their methods. I prefer that time to preserve terpenes during second processes after the butter is made such as baking,” she says. BHO can also be decarbed after it has been made by putting the BHO into an oven-safe, parchment paper-lined Pyrex dish and heating it at the same temperature for the same time.

For example, if you are planning to prepare 30 cookies with your full gram of wax that has 65% (650 mg) THC, then you’ll simply divide 650mg by 30, yielding 21.7mg (approx.. 22mg) per each cookie—which is a little higher than what some states allow for sale. This is a high amount for inexperienced users. If you’re not entirely sure, it is a good idea to start on the low end and mix in less, or even half of your concentrate until you arrive at a comfortable euphoria.

The recipes on this site are calculated on using a 1/2 ounce to 1 cup butter, which in most cases will be pretty strong (depending on the strength of the cannabis of course). When cooking for myself, I will often double that. Also making stronger infusions let’s you use less of them to get the same dose, which can improve flavor. So amounts are a suggestion and cannabis cooks should always take the amounts given in ANY recipe with a grain of salt and adjust upwards or downwards according to their own needs. My free dosing class can help you do that.
Another reason to use this technique is without water in the mix, the plant material tends absorbs too much of the oil. This means usable product is going into the trash, a problem that’s reduced when adding water. The increased liquid volume also gives cooks the option to add more plant material in order to make more concentrated infusions if they wish.
Start off by pureeing the raspberries along with 1/8 a cup of the water and the lemon juice. About halfway through the puree, add in 1/8 cup of the cannabis honey. Blend everything together until it is smooth. Pour the raspberry mixture through the sieve in to a clean bowl. You can discard the seeds (or eat them… I chose to eat them). Fill each of the popsicle molds about 1/3 of the way full with the raspberry mix. Freeze them for an hour.
If you’re using a slow cooker, you’ll want to cook on low heat for at least 6 to 8 hours, but as long as 2 or 3 days if you want it really well infused and potent. If you’re using a saucepan, you’ll want to heat it for about half that time, but at least 3 hours. The longer you cook, the more the weed will infuse the oil. If you’re using the slow cooker, you don’t have to check it or mix as often. If using a saucepan, you’ll want to keep a close eye on it and mix frequently. You definitely don’t want it to boil over.
