Ok, im not dising the people who wrote this book they are good recipes, just don't pay attention to how much of some ingredients to use. I don't think they proof read this book before publishing it. if they did they may have been adjusted. I cook a lot and know off the top of my head you don't use the amounts of baking soda and powder for a basic muffin or pancakes mix as printed, tbls instead of tsp makes a big difference in baking. but nice effort, I think more in-depth explanations on how to make the basic ingredients you need to have, before attempting your culinary creations, would be more beneficial then the messed up recipes in this book.

The peanuts mixed with the cannabis can also act as a brain booster and wouldn’t be a bad idea for a snack if you’ve got some thinking planned somewhere in your day. While historians have found recipes involving weed dating back to 15th century Europe and even 10th century India, pot brownies were introduced to pop (or should we say “pot”?) culture in the 1968 movie “I Love You Alice B. Toklas.” Objectively, the most common way to make weed-laced snacks is marijuana butter, but baking with cannabis oil can be even more effective. While these two products have many similar uses and come from the same plant, they’re produced and used in very different ways.

I don’t know if you could hazard a guess as to whether making my own would be more cost effective, but I’m guessing it would be. Chemo fog has rendered me incapable of basic logic skills, but saying that, you’re not my math teacher so don’t worry if you’ve no idea!

Alice B. Toklas, who presided over literary salons in early twentieth-century Paris with partner Gertrude Stein, firmly ensconced the practice of cooking and eating cannabis in the cultural imagination with The Alice B. Toklas Cook Book. First published in 1954, it offered up a recipe for Hashish Fudge, which “anyone could whip up on a rainy day.” In addition to pulverizing a “bunch of cannabis sativa,” the recipe calls for black peppercorns, dried figs, and peanuts. In an introduction to the 1984 reprint of the book, food writer M.F.K. Fisher wrote that she had never tried one of the fudge brownies, but “am told they taste slightly bitter.” These days, no cannabis chef worth their herb would recommend throwing raw product into baked goods, but brownies can be an ideal vehicle for THC. It just takes a few more steps than Toklas imagined.
Now that we’ve gone over cannabis-infused oils, let’s dive into their similarly monikered cousin: cannabis oil. Similar to olive, vegetable, or coconut oil, cannabis oil is made through a chemical extraction process. There are a variety of methods that the marijuana industry uses to extract oil, resulting in similar but unique products. Most cannabis extraction methods involve a solvent, like butane or CO2—or extreme heat and pressure—to extract the cannabinoids. These processes can be time-consuming and usually involve expensive laboratory equipment. Without proper training and the right tools, extracting THC from weed using certain methods is downright dangerous. Unless you’re using a solventless method, the excess yield—or product that isn’t cannabis oil—needs to be removed in order for a clean, non-toxic final result. For those of us who aren’t chemistry experts, most methods of this process should be left to the professionals.
Start off by preheating your oven to 350 degrees and combining both the Chex cereal and the pretzels in a large mixing bowl and stir them together. Then, in a medium saucepan begin to melt the cannabutter and when it’s melted, stir in the garlic powder, salt, and Worcestershire sauce. While that simmers (as always, never boil the cannabutter or you’ll lose the THC), spread the cereal and pretzels mix on a cookie sheet and pour half of the butter mix over them using a spatula and spoon. Toss the remaining butter mixture well while you bake the trail mix on the cookie sheet for five minutes. When the five minutes is up, repeat the previous step, pouring the butter over the cookie sheet. Let the mix cool and then sprinkle some crushed cannabis over the top and toss it together. Once you do that, your trail mix is ready to be packaged up and enjoyed!
The effects of the weed lollipop are just as good as those of baked weed, but it comes on even slower, over an hour or two, and lasts even longer. Since it takes a while to dissolve the lollipop, you may be able to suck a lollipop for an hour, then immediately have another. You won’t have to worry about dosing because the time it takes to consume the lollipop will force you to be unable to overdose, unless of course you chew the lollipop rather than sucking. So, suck the weed lollipop, let it take at least an hour, and you can have another while waiting for the effects to begin over the next hour.
Just to be clear you can decarb your dry ice hash/kief and then mix it into dishes that don’t need cooking? I just made awesome tempered almond chocolates with 3 grams of kief, seems potent so far. With my honeys and maple syrup seems like it would be better not to heat them for so long if the hash is already decarbed. I have had problems using plant materials and getting mold so I turned all the trim we had into CO2 hash! We have over 200 grams so I can cook with it. It’s also super potent in my vaporizer.

Cannabis Now contributor Jessica Catalano is another strain-specific chef — in fact, she’s the world’s first. She first started posting recipes on her Ganja Kitchen Revolution blog in 2010, choosing strains based on the complementary flavors they add to non-medicated ingredients. The website inspired a book of the same name, where Catalano recommends adding Blue Cheese to biscuits, Pineapple Kush to a piña colada, and Sour Diesel to a Lebanese tabouli. To extract the cannabinoids in the High CBD Hash Oil use either edible methodology described above.  You can activate more CBDa to CBD by simmering the solution on the stove for the 30 minutes instead of being cautious not to create bubbles.

Start off by pureeing the raspberries along with 1/8 a cup of the water and the lemon juice. About halfway through the puree, add in 1/8 cup of the cannabis honey. Blend everything together until it is smooth. Pour the raspberry mixture through the sieve in to a clean bowl. You can discard the seeds (or eat them… I chose to eat them). Fill each of the popsicle molds about 1/3 of the way full with the raspberry mix. Freeze them for an hour.
28 grams of flower 15-20% THC level. I crush the flower by hand so there is very little small grind/powder. I then turn on the crock pot on low and add 6 sticks of butter and start the melt. I put the ground up flower on a cookie sheet and cook at 225 for about 40-45 minutes. Take the Decarb flower and dump into the already melted butter and cook for 2 hours on low then 4 hours on warm, take it off heat and let cool for 4 hours and then put it back on warm setting for another 6-8 hours, pull it off cool it for 4 hours and do that one more time. I then put double layer of cheesecloth in a strainer and pour the mix and let it drain until I can’t see anything else dripping through. Then I fold up the cheese cloth and wrap another layer around that and squeeze the extra butter out. YES I know, I know I am adding a slight amount of bitterness from the plant but I want to get as much of the THC as I can get.

Best advice? Don’t ruin food with weed. Eat some cannabutter on a cracker, with some peanut butter if you’re a wimp, then eat your food without the a** taste of weed. And the advice about getting the food too hot is complete nonsense. You smoke weed, vape it, at temperatures far higher than recommended here, and guess what? You get high. Want some oil or butter in 30-40 minutes? As a starter batch, melt 2 sticks of unsalted butter, and add a 1/4 ounce of ground up bud. Cook it medium to medium low, watching for foaming. When it starts foaming, turn it down a bit, and keep taking it off the heat. Once you have the butter at simmer, all the moisture in the weed will bubble out. Once the weed quits foaming, you’re done. Use a strainer to get it into a heat resistant container, and don’t burn your fool self. Let it cool, then put it in the fridge to solidify. Once it’s hardened you can put in a baggie or container so your fridge doesn’t stink like cannabutter. Once you get practiced up, it’s a cinch. No sense jacking around for hours on end when you can get ‘er done in less than an hour. Good luck, and DON’T BURN YOURSELF! And when you test it, go easy, and wait at least 3 hours to make sure you don’t eat too much and make yourself miserable.
