I strained my mix once and it worked fine. I then carefully funneled the strained tincture in to the dropper bottles. With this recipe, the mix should fill 11 bottles. I also hung on to the mason jar and stuck it in the fridge to scrape later. Throw away the stuff that’s left in the cheesecloth. That’s trash. But now, you should have a bunch of bottles full of delicious tincture. To ingest the medicine, put a dropper full under your tongue and swish it around your cheeks for about ten seconds. Some people require more than one dropper full. Take what you need and enjoy!
However, some people cook with cannabis at home and create their own cannabis oil by heating buds and flowers with a base oil like grapeseed or other cooking oils. Cannabinoids like THC and CBD are fat-soluble, hydrophobic oils, meaning they dissolve in oils, butters, fats and alcohol, but not water. To be effective, cannabis and its extracts or concentrates must be heated in order to convert the cannabinoid THCA into active THC.

Hi This is one of my fave articles so far on cooking. I am just about to try all this the first time. I have a very pretty plant I grew and she is ready to start drying. Can I take a small amount of the bud after a couple of days of drying and decarb it before its all the way dried and cured and use it? Thanks again for answering the questions. I was able to read through and other people asked the same things I would.
Cut the top 1/2 inch off the garlic heads. Add olive oil to the cut heads and sprinkle with basil. Roast in 420-degree oven for 30-50 minutes. The garlic is done when tender to a fork. Boil the cubed potatoes in salted water until fork tender, drain, and mash lightly. Add butters to potatoes and continue to mash. Add pepper, salt, cream, and cheese and mash until smooth. Squeeze garlic into the mix and whip until smooth.
To make the icing (which you can totally throw together while your cupcakes are cooking), all you have to do is beat the cream cheese with the butter with an electric mixer. Beat in the molasses and the vanilla extract and then proceed to beat in the powdered sugar. Continue to mix until the frosting is smooth and then use the back of the spoon to spread the icing on top of the cupcakes, after they cool of course. Then you can sprinkle the coarse raw sugar over the top of the icing and bam! Your cupcakes are ready!

With an easy and more precise dosage method, medical cannabis oils are ideal for oral consumption. However, they can be just as effortlessly added to what you’re eating. Because our extraction process includes decarboxylation, there is no need to decarb the oil on your own before cooking like you have to with dried flower. This means you can just add the oil to basically anything without any fuss or extra time. To add your oil into a food, simply measure your dosage as you normally would do with the syringe and add that specific amount to your recipe. If you’re cooking for one, you only need one dose. I can’t say that I’m a huge fan of mayo but working in the food business has shown me that it’s probably the single most popular condiment out there. People put mayo with everything. They’ll put it on subs, dip their fries in it, put it in the calzones and on their pizza. It’s insane how much people like mayo. So here’s this recipe for mayo that will taste awesome and it will also give you a little buzz. The recipe is really easy but just know that you will need cannabis oil so have some of the on hand before you start.

Extracts, or concentrates, are exactly what they sound like—products with high levels of THC that are made from cannabis by a number of methods, from sifting buds to isolate cannabinoid-rich trichomes,to supercritical CO2 extraction, which uses carbon dioxide at very high pressures to pull cannabinoids from the plant. (This professional technique is a popular way to decaffeinate coffee.) There is a dizzying array of extracts available, as well as ways to consume them, from vaporizing to smoking them atop traditional bud. And some have found their way into the kitchen.
You can’t take a Le Cordon Bleu class in THC or crib from Julia Child or Thomas Keller. Due to federal regulations, it’s tough for medical researchers to investigate cannabis, let alone food science or culinary programs. Chefs working with cannabis are literally writing their own cookbooks and becoming amateur scientists in search of the perfect high enrobed in the perfect meal.
Brownies are by far the most popular weed edible. In some places, you can’t buy weed brownies but they are incredibly easy to make. On our site here: https://www.ncsm.nl/english/information-for-patients/make-weed-brownies we have given you one easy gourmet recipe and a super-easy recipe for people who don’t cook.  The basic method for cooking pot brownies is to mix your decarboxylated canna butter with your eggs, water, pecans, chocolate chips, and brownie mix recipe, put it in your greased baking pan, and bake for 30 mins. For those who need a simpler approach, simply mix your store-bought brownie mix with your canna butter and cook for 30 mins. This produces a harder brownie that more resistant to spoiling because it doesn’t have eggs, nuts, or milk in it.
I love the taste of smoked or vaped cannabis. I do not like the taste of it in my food. Most people do not, but I know a handful of folks who do. But from a culinary/flavor profile/foodie perspective, most often the flavor of cannabis does not enhance most recipes. Your taking offense to this is the equivalent of getting mad at someone because they don’t like the flavor of broccoli, or beer, or whatever. It’s just silly. If you like it, more power to you, cannabis cooking is a whole lot easier for you. But most of my readers do not like a strong cannabis flavor in their food and neither do I.

Cannabis infused butter, otherwise known as cannabutter, is a primary ingredient in many marijuana-infused recipes. Cannabis butter is technically an ‘extraction’ method whereby the cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids are extracted from the cannabis plant and infused into the butter fats. The butter from a normal recipe is then substituted with cannabutter to produce psychoactive effects. Cannabis butter is often used in decadent edible recipes (such as brownies), but ultimately its use depends on the cook and his/her personal preferences and/or their dietary needs. It can be made from dried or decarboxylated cannabis buds, trim, solvent-less hash or even sugar leaf.
The first step in any weed bake is to choose a high-quality strain of weed, then make it super-strong by decarboxylating it, which is a fancy word that means to bake it on a baking sheet at 240 degrees for 25 mins to an hour, depending on how much weed you’re using for making edibles. This will concentrate the bud and convert more of the cannabinoids to the potent thc that you want.

“When a person eats marijuana product they may not feel anything for a while,” says Dr. Igor Grant, director of the Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research at the University of California, San Diego. “And if they were doing it medicinally, they may say, ‘Well, maybe I didn’t have enough,’ and take some more, and then two hours later they’re very, very stoned.”
So yeah, testing this hash butter made me melt into the floor and feel like I just wasn’t going to make it to see another day. Let my mistake stand as a reminder that you really need to be conscious of dosing your edibles. Even an experienced edibles writer sometimes gets hungry and eats half of a grilled cheese without calculating dosage first and spends half of her afternoon asking the farmer to remind her that she’s not, in fact, dying.
When choosing a strain to use in your bake, consider the effects each strain offers. Indicas usually offer profound relaxation while sativas are more stimulating. If you want to treat anxiety and pain, you might want an indica. If instead you want to address fatigue, a sativa might be more appropriate. There are as many different strains of these basic categories as there are vendors and the different strains offer different experiences. One way to tell a potent strain is by smell. You want a potent and deep aroma from the strain you choose. You may have to test different strains for  thc edibles and ask other users and vendors what effects each give to find the strains that are right for you.

How do you grind your weed? You can use a quality cannabis grinder which you can buy at our store. You can use a food processor or a coffee grinder, although you’d probably want to designate a processor or coffee grinder specifically for that use (unless you don’t mind leaving a little residual flavor, which could be a good thing if you like your morning cup of Joe to taste like Bubba Kush).
The first thing you must do if cooking with cannabis is to activate the THC and/or CBD. And that requires heat. The process you will use to do this is called decarboxylation. This is what will give your edibles the “buzz” you want. Beyond that, however, raw cannabis placed directly into recipes will not allow the range of cannabinoids found in the plant to activate and bind to fat. You will just be wasting cannabis, in other words. And who wants that?
