The method of draining is identical for stovetop and slow cooker methods.  Place a cheesecloth lined strainer over a large pot or bowl and strain the liquid through this.  Before discarding plant material, pour a large kettle full of boiling water over the full strainer in order to wash through any extra oil clinging to the plant material.  Allow to cool then squeeze out as much liquid as possible.  Discard the plant material.  If you are using a solid at room temperature fat like coconut oil or shortening, chill water and oil.  The infused oil will harden into a solid when chilled making it easy for you to simply lift the piece off of the water below and discard the water.
I love using my Instant Pot to make marijuana butter, as there is almost no smell while it is cooking. Follow the directions on this page, using the Instant Pot’s slow cooker setting (I usually use the high setting, you could also use the medium setting, personal preference). I guess you could pressure cook it, but temps are hotter and the bits of plant material are the types of things that love to clog pressure cooker valves, so I prefer to use the slow cooker setting instead of the Pressure cooking setting. While too much heat will kill your THC, some heat is necessary. Most people do not realize the raw cannabis plant contains no THC at all. It does contain THC-A (or THC-acid). It takes the process of adding heat or decarboxylation to make the chemical reaction that converts THC-A to THC. If you are infusing butter or oil, some decarboxylation is taken care of in the process of infusion, mostly.  But lab tests show that even when making infusions, decarbing first will up the percentage of THC extracted.  If you are cooking with kief you will need to decarboxylate first. I recommend this step when cooking with hash too, as it can help maximize THC potency.   For more info on decarboxylation, why you need it, and how to do it, see this page.
I’ve used distillate for cooking and had amazing results. Seeing as how the distillate is already decarbed, I used a double boiler. I used 2 cups of unrefined coconut oil. I dissolved the oil in the double boiler then added the distillate. Simply let it melt in to the oil for about 10 minutes on a low temp. Some of the strongest edibles I have ever made.

Set aside two tablespoons of hemp seeds in a small owl. Take the remaining hemp seeds, cacao powder, salt, and walnuts it to a small food processor and pulse for 10 seconds until the mixture is finely ground. Take half of the dates and the vanilla extract and add them in. Puree everything for about 15 seconds and then move it to a mixing bowl. Form 15 to 18 small meatball sized balls and roll them in the remaining hemp seeds to give the a nice covering. Set the balls in a container and let them sit in the fridge for about two hours. You can enjoy them then or wait and store them in the fridge like stated above! Enjoy!
First, take the three peppers and cut them in to strips, about 1/2 inch wide and the proceed to chop the onion in to small pieces. Put all of the veggies (and meats if you so choose) in to a skillet and add in your Cannabutter. You can replace the butter with cannabis infused olive oil, as well, if you want to be a little more health conscious. Hey i just tried the oil in the crockpot method, turned out to what seems like good oil ( have done stove top in past) i tried two teaspoons in a small amount of water for a potency test but havent had any real results ( used about 2 1/2 cups of trimmings and small buds to 1 cup oil) im just curious is that possible to the way ive ingested it? Would baking into something and trying that be a better “strength” test? Thanks!

The effects of the weed lollipop are just as good as those of baked weed, but it comes on even slower, over an hour or two, and lasts even longer. Since it takes a while to dissolve the lollipop, you may be able to suck a lollipop for an hour, then immediately have another. You won’t have to worry about dosing because the time it takes to consume the lollipop will force you to be unable to overdose, unless of course you chew the lollipop rather than sucking. So, suck the weed lollipop, let it take at least an hour, and you can have another while waiting for the effects to begin over the next hour.

Great recipe choices and I like the dosage information. The book has clear explanations of the correct mindset to have when cooking with Cannabis, take it slow, It's an attractive book with the content I want. The recipes are more like comfort food to me, but I like that. Somebody stated in a review that the recipes were weak. They are supposed to be. There are too many variable that change the effect: quality of product, tolerance of the person consuming the food, etc. Cooking is about enjoying the food and experience, not getting blasted. If you’re already using cannacaps or want to start, infused coconut oil is a great addition to your capsules. Because coconut oil has a high saturated fat content, it helps your body best absorb  the cannabinoids, delivering a stronger effect per dose of medicine (THC and CBD) than other oils. In addition, coconut oil has a long shelf life, meaning that cannacaps made with this oil will last an extremely long time (especially if stored in the fridge or freezer!)
Cut the top 1/2 inch off the garlic heads. Add olive oil to the cut heads and sprinkle with basil. Roast in 420-degree oven for 30-50 minutes. The garlic is done when tender to a fork. This is my first batch. I used 1oz manicured ground cured bud in 1lb of butter. I put both in a slow cooker plus a cup of water. I set the cooker to the lowest temp for the longest time. Next day, I poured the butter & bud (water evaporated) through a tea strainer into a pyrex measuring cup. I had no cheesecloth and I suspect I’ll want to strain the cannabutter again before I put it in (Cook’s Illustrated Classic) Brownies. We will make the brownies next week. Wish us well.
