Many different extraction methods are detailed, including cannabutter, vegetable oils, and even nut butters. The thing that makes this cookbook really unique is the dosing chart, which allows you to find exactly the right dose while you are cooking and measuring out your cannabis infused oils. This means no more surprises and doses that you can customize for your particular needs.
Obligatory Bob Loblaw Disclaimer: While cannabis is legal for recreational use in Colorado and Washington, as well as for medical use in 20 states and D.C., it is still technically illegal under federal law. Do this at your own risk. Also remember that edibles require longer to take effect (anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours) but hit way harder than smoking, along with longer lasting effects (anywhere from 2 to 8 hours depending on the strength of the butter and the number of brownies you just inhaled). Do not attempt to drive, operate heavy machinery, perform surgery, perform long division, or generally move further from your couch than absolutely necessary.
Drummer, like many cannabis chefs, works closely with a trusted supplier that tests its products for potency in labs. Once she creates a butter or an oil, she then has that product tested. Finally, diners are presented with menus that describe the dosage of each dish. She tries to keep four-course menus at “well under” 60 milligrams of THC, spread out over a leisurely meal so that diners can indulge. For comparison, “legal state” Colorado considers 10 milligrams to be a single dose. The effect of a single dose varies from person to person, and from smoking to eating.
Did you cook the butter with water? If so sometimes you will have residual water left after straining. I strain and then heat gently to remove any residual water as it can cause mold if left for long periods, then do a secondary straining to get rid of any other sediment. If you did not add water to the mix, I am not sure where it would be coming from.
Put the water, marijuana, and butter into a large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer up to five hours. Turn heat off and run the mixture through a fine metal strainer or cheesecloth into a bowl. Squeeze cheesecloth to remove whatever butter you can from the marijuana. Discard the weed when you’re done. Put the bowl of hot water and butter in the fridge or freezer. When the butter hardens, dump out the water, microwave the butter a bit, and then transfer to a Tupperware container. The butter will keep for several weeks.
Brownies, I take about 10 grams of flower and grind the holy hell out of it, take a store bought brownie mix and put in the mix and bake just like the box says. BOOM 23 minutes later I have small brownie bits that will knock your socks off. I have no idea the strength as that was my old method of using it. I did not Decarb it I just ground it and cooked it all together. YES it has a strong weed smell but the taste is not too bad.
Since I generally like to take microdoses of cannabis (about 10mg or less) throughout the day when I need to medicate, I’ve never really delved into the world of making ridiculously strong cannabis oil or butter. I realize that some people need stronger medicine, but those people aren’t me, and I don’t have the tolerance to test strong oil without getting really really really messed up, so I never did it.
To make the icing (which you can totally throw together while your cupcakes are cooking), all you have to do is beat the cream cheese with the butter with an electric mixer. Beat in the molasses and the vanilla extract and then proceed to beat in the powdered sugar. Continue to mix until the frosting is smooth and then use the back of the spoon to spread the icing on top of the cupcakes, after they cool of course. Then you can sprinkle the coarse raw sugar over the top of the icing and bam! Your cupcakes are ready!

Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees and spray two 12-muffin pans with cooking spray. In a large bowl, whisk together the baking powder, salt, and flour. Separately, whisk together the sugar, melted cannabis butter, milk, vanilla, and eggs and then add in the flour mixture until the substance is slightly moist. It should be slightly lumpy, not completely smooth. This is where you should add in the blueberries. You can also add in some strawberries, raspberries, or any other fruit that you like. Divide up the mix in the two muffin pans and place in your preheated oven. Cook them for between 12-15 minutes and be sure to test them with a toothpick to make sure that they’re fully finished. You can wrap them in wax paper and store them in a cool dark place until you’re ready to eat them!
So take your cake mix and put all the ingredients together, with the exception of the vegetable oil that the recipe calls for. Replace that amount with cannabutter or liquid cannabis, whichever medium you prefer. If you choose to just grind up your leftover stems and vaped weed (I highly recommend this… Recycling is good)make sure that you use a coffee grinder and that the material is sufficiently ground up. Getting pieces of stem in your cupcake is no fun. If you do the grinding up method, you must melt butter in a pain and add the cannabis.
Disclaimer: This is not intended as medical advice. I’m not a doctor. I’m also not a lawyer and can’t defend you if you get busted trying to make this recipe in a state that still considers possession or cultivation of cannabis a criminal act. I don’t agree with this law, but I’d never advocate that you break it. Jail would suck. Instead, I strongly advise that you work to change the law in your state or nation by supporting and being active in grassroots organizations that are trying to legalize cannabis in your area (they’re everywhere). This recipe is heretoforth only intended for people who live in states or countries where medical or recreational use of cannabis is legal, who are 21 and older, of sound mind and who understand that operating heavy machinery (cars, trucks, planes, etc.) under the influence of any intoxicant, including marijuana, is incredibly dangerous, immature, and wholly stupid. Please don’t ever eat and drive. Support public transportation or use the two legs that evolution gave you and walk your sweet ass wherever it is that you need to go.

In respect to the upcoming holidays, there’s probably going to be a lot of parties coming up. What goes better with the holidays than gingerbread? And you can’t forget to stay medicated. Everyone gets a little stressed during these festive months, right? This way, you can seem like you’ve got some holiday cheer, when in reality, you’re getting super stoned.
Process: With burner heat on Low combine 2 cups water, 1/3 cup coconut oil and 1 gram High CBD Hash Oil into a medium saucepan. Keep the heat below bubbling as to keep all cannabinoids available for consumption. Heat gently for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally as the hash oil dissolves into the oil. Place saucepan in the refrigerator or transfer contents into a large enough dish to contain the water and oil and place in fridge. Allow oil to harden and rise to the top of the container (overnight is perfect). Remove hardened oil from water and dispose of water. You now have 1/3 cup of CBD infused coconut oil.
That evening’s festivities were business, of a kind. Dope, a “cannabis lifestyle” magazine, was hosting its annual Oregon Dope Cup in Portland. The event is one of many that aspire to be the Oscars of the legal-cannabis industry. Laurie & MaryJane had won a Best Edible trophy at the previous Dope Cup, in Seattle, for its savory nuts. Last year, the company agreed to host an edibles dinner for the magazine’s guests, including the cup’s judges, who had flown in from Colorado.
An important step, decarboxylation, will maximize the THC content of the plant material you use to make concentrated oil. Catalano recommends  baking plant material at 220 degrees for 25 minutes. “Everyone has a different time and temperature for their methods. I prefer that time to preserve terpenes during second processes after the butter is made such as baking,” she says.  BHO can also be decarbed after it has been made by putting the BHO into an oven-safe, parchment paper-lined Pyrex dish and heating it at the same temperature for the same time.
As always, you first preheat the oven. This recipe calls for the oven to be set to 375 degrees. Grab a mixing bowl and mix in your sugars and the cannabutter, mixing them together well. Add in your eggs, pudding mix, and vanilla. Stir everything together until the mixture is creamy. Mix together the flour and baking soda and gradually add in to the mixing bowl. Stir everything together well (use a mixer if it makes you more comfortable). Then, proceed to stir in the chocolate chips. Measuring them out by the teaspoonful, place the cookies on to an ungreased baking sheet (Or you can grease it with some cannabutter to give the cookies an even stronger effect). Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 11 minutes or until they are lightly browned. Allow the cookies to cool before serving and enjoy your new twist on an old favorite!
Sayegh wears chef’s whites. He’s quick to smile, athletic, with his hair cropped short on the sides and a tight burst of sandy curls on top. His Maltese-poodle mix, MooMoo, is cavorting around his feet. Just a few years ago, you wouldn’t have found him in uniform, but pondering his fate at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He was a sophomore studying molecular biology, homesick for the mansaf and other dishes his Jordanian family raised him on—and a fledgling pot smoker. A budding scientist, he decided that if he was going to get high, he should probably find out what it was doing to his body.

Cannabis infused cooking oils, commonly referred to as canna oils, are popular among many medical marijuana patients and caregivers looking to infuse everything from salad dressings to dipping sauces to baked goods. Most oils are vegan-friendly and extremely easy to add into recipes with savory meals like steak or chicken. Additionally, infused cooking oils may serve as a healthy substitute for butter in many recipes. These factors make marijuana-infused cooking oils a must-have for most medical marijuana patients when it comes to cooking with cannabis at home. How to Make Cannabis Infused Cooking Oil (Canna Oil) Ingredients 6 cups extra …

This product may be applied to an “oil rig” for the highest intensity medication possible. An oil rig is a device used much like a traditional water pipe, or bong, which uses a heated element, usually titanium or quartz, to heat up the High CBD Hash Oil to a critical temperature. The oil is vaporized, channeled through water filtration for cooling, and inhaled by the user in a large concentration. This produces a less-bodied smoke that is not as thick as cannabis-plant smoke but equally expansive in the lungs and cough inducing.

If you were looking for the perfect game-day snack to serve to all your pals, then search no more! This nacho cheese is creamy cheesy bliss and when the high kicks in while the game’s on it won’t matter if your team wins or not, either way you’ll be happy dipping crunchy chips into this dip again and again. Both canna-butter and canna olive oil can be used in this dip so be prepared for some pretty potent bites.
Cover them with plastic wrap and let it sit in the fridge for about 2 hours or longer. (The longer it chills in the marinade the better the taste and the high) After the time passes, preheat your grill to high heat and pour some of the chicken juice on the grill to oil it up and further cook the flavor into the legs. Now put the chicken on the grill and pour the rest of the mixture over top it right after throwing it on the grill.
Lower the power of the mixer and add in 1 cup of flower, constantly beating, then add 1/2 cup of buttermilk, beating again to make sure that everything is mixing together well. Add in another cup of flour, beating, and then add in the last of the buttermilk, continuously beating. Then add in the remaining flour, pouring it slowly. Continue to beat until the mixture is mixed together well. Remember to get the mix that gets stuck up on the side of the bowl. Grab a stirring instrument and put the beater down. Stir in the lemon juice and lemon zest. Take the mixture and slowly pour it in to the previously greased pan until the pan is three quarters full. Make sure that the batter is even in the pan.

Decarboxylated cannabis can (and has been) infused into a spectrum of household ingredients, from avocado oil to bacon fat, although some may be better conduits than others. In a trial where she infused and tested a number of vehicles, McDonough found that clarified butter and coconut oil produced especially potent solutions. Her hypothesis as to why? Saturated fats like butter and coconut oil are better able to absorb THC than monounsaturated fats like olive oil. “We’ll need to do more study,” she writes, “but in the meantime, all of you cannabis cooks at home can rest assured that using clarified butter or coconut oil for your cannabis infusions will result in a potent and cost-effective infusion.”

Just some of the cannabis culinary techniques you will learn include the correct cannabis oil breakdown, decarboxylation, the benefits of infused butter versus oil, how to store your infusion, and how to make cannabis calculations when cooking. Hi Jimmy, I first want to tell you that you are doing nothing wrong. If what you are doing works for you then that’s great. After telling me where you live and how you make your medicine proves to me that all the gadgets and gizmos out there to “properly” infuse your edibles are really unnecessary. The short answer to your question is, yes you can gain a bit of THC by decarboxylating your cannabis first. However, because you bake your cookies, there is some decarbing going on during that process too. But decarbing, before you cook with it, won’t hurt. My method is to place the cannabis in an oven safe baking dish, cover and put in the oven for 20 minutes at 240 degrees. That’s it. To answer your 2nd question, Yes, using your niece’s oven where you have control over your temps will help ensure proper decarboxylation and cooking of your “beetles.”
Still, the public’s appetite for shows about weed chefs — just like the public’s appetite for weed — may be outpacing the conservative sensibilities of the people making decisions. Food Network, among other major players, has yet to touch the subject of cooking with the federally illegal drug, so the Rachael Ray of pot cuisine is more likely to come out of an unconventional platform like California startup Prohbtd, which currently produces a cannabis-infused cooking web series called Pot Pie, hosted by the charming Brandin LaShea. “Having a digital platform is the new wave,” says LaShea, who will feature infused dishes on her next season. “I have freedom that I don’t think I’d have at a large network.”
I have an ardent lift (for decarboxalation) I feel as if it over does it? It runs for about 2 hours, and claims that it’s a perfect decarb everytime. 2 hours seems a bit long. Also when I have used trim, I notice the thc % is a little bit too low. Or has at times tested at 0% (using the tcheck device) I am aware that flower bears much stronger results. .should I stick to flower for streng?
Cannabis Now contributor Laurie Wolf sells small batch cheese crisps and brownie bites at Oregon dispensaries. But if you’re not in the state, her cookbook will help you replicate those treats — and tons of others — at home. With elevated recipes for dishes like a tomahawk ribeye and bruschetta with ricotta and peas, this is the book you should turn to if you’re prepping an elegant dinner party. In fact, “Herb” has been called the “the authoritative volume on how to cook with cannabis” by celebrity chef Michael Ruhlman — who won a James Beard Award for his own book — so you know it’s good.
Put the cap on the milk jug and shake it for 5 minutes, then put it in the freezer for 5 minutes. Repeat the shaking/freezing process two or three times. Now, grab the coffee filter and strain out all of the liquid in the jug. Make sure to get all of the liquid strained in to the bowl. With your freezer set to the highest setting, put the bowl of water in the freezer. Be very careful with it and try not to disturb it too much. The bowl should sit in the freezer for around 45 minutes, or until the fluid begins to form a delicate ice layer. It’s also a good idea to tap the bowl lightly with a spoon. The trichomes are in the water and the most dense, heavy ones will fall to the bottom of the bowl.
Wolf had given me a rundown of the legal-cannabis industry during our drive, dividing it into three broad categories. First are “the black-market people who’re forging on,” the original patchouli-scented pioneers. Then there are the profiteers: venture capitalists and M.B.A. types who’ve been pouring funds into the legalizing states, a phenomenon called the green rush. “These are people who’ve never smoked pot in their lives,” she said, with disapproval. “They’re just in it for the money.” The majority of pot entrepreneurs fall into the vast third category, driven by the complicated blend of motives—ambition, libertinism, a desire to help sick people—that drives the legalization movement as a whole.
Slice the bananas in to small 1″ slices and roll them around in the budder that you’ve melted and lemon juice mixture. Do this to all of the bananas and then lightly coat them with the toasted coconut. The budder/lemon mix will make the coconut stick to the banana easily. This recipe is super easy and can be made by pretty much anyone. Enjoy your banana treats!
Cooking and Baking foods, weed brownies, cannabis cookies, making candy with marijuana, and weed drinks with thc or CBD in them require the use of Edible Marijuana Recipes which are necessary to have so you know how much of each ingredient is required in order to get high or stoned from eating them. Knowing how to make weed butter or cannabutter is one of the first steps you need to know. Marijuana Butter aka cannabutter is butter that has been melted and mixed with extracted thc glands from cannabis plant trimmings or from marijuana buds. Make sure to understand the different effects of inhaled and ingested cannabis.
The first step is to infuse the olive oil with cannabis. Using the cheesecloth and the twine, wrap the cannabis up in to a little bundle. Make sure the bundle is secure so that none of the cannabis gets in to the oil. Put the oil in to a pot and toss in the cheesecloth cannabis bundle. Put a cover on the pot and allow the oil to simmer on low heat for about 24 hours. When the 24 hours is up, remove the bundle while wearing gloves (be careful, it may be hot). Squeeze out the leftover oil, as a lot will get trapped in the ground cannabis inside. Put the now cannabis infused oil back on the stove and slowly add in the beeswax. As the wax melts, be sure to have your jars set up on the side, ready for the finished mixture. After the wax has completely melted, stir in the vitamin E and the Arnica oil. Keep in mind that once this mix is removed from the heat source, it will begin to solidify so very quickly take it from the stove and move it in to the jars. Leave the jars uncovered to set overnight.
Remove from oven and allow to cool fully before removing the foil. Depending on the material you use, it may be fine enough and require no further processing. If not, you can place the material in a food processor or blender, pulsing the cannabis until it is coarsely ground. Be careful not to over grind the material, as you do not want a super fine powder.
Beverage connoisseurs will delight in Cannabis Cocktails, Mocktails & Tonics, an informative collection of cannabis cocktails and medicinal drinks that, when released, was a top selling book at Tales of the Cocktail (the largest cocktail festival in the world). Mixologist Warren Bobrow, the author of a handful of other cocktail recipe books and creator of the blog The Cocktail Whisperer, artfully pairs the fascinating science behind cannabis chemistry with detailed instructions on how to make stimulating tonics, bitters, syrups, herbal infusions, and more to create a book that any drink and cannabis enthusiast would be excited to check out.
Start by preheating the oven to 350F. Then, combine the yeast and 3/4 cup of warm water. Let this sit for about five minutes to activate the yeast. While this sits, in a separate bowl, combine the salt, gluten free flour blend, and the baking powder. Whisk together until well combined. In the dry mixture, make a small well and add the yeast mixture, the olive oil, and an additional 1/2 cup of warm water before stirring well with a wooden spoon. Using more olive oil, coat a baking sheet and place the dough in the center. Working from the middle, press the dough outwards in to a circle. You want it to be around 1/4 of an inch thick. Place the dough in the over for about 25 minutes or until it begins to lightly brown.
Preheat your oven to 370 degrees. Put your canna butter in a large mixing bowl and mix in your vanilla extract and sugar. Use another bowl and mix your flour, salt, and baking soda. Stir in your eggs, brown sugar, chips, and all other ingredients, mixing in just enough water to make a hard semi-solid. Now stir in your canna butter and size your cookies by how much weed you used. If you used a half ounce, make at least 14 cookies. Each cookie will be equal to one large bowl of smoked marijuana. Remember effects take at least an hour, so don’t eat too many cookies but enjoy just one cookie or a half and you will get amazing results.
All you have to do to get your medicated mayo is whisk together the egg yolks, the salt, vinegar, lemon juice, and mustard together. Make sure it’s mixed up well. Slowly add in the cannabis oil while still whisking the mixture. Do this carefully or risk making a huge mess. Once the oil is completely added in, continue to whisk the mixture until is begins to thicken. If it gets too thick, you can add a few drops of water to get the right consistency. Put the mayo in an airtight container and let it chill in the refrigerator for about two hours.
As the dough cooks, gather all of the ingredients that you plan to use as the toppings. Press together the minced garlic and the kosher salt to form a thick paste. Add the garlic paste to the melted butter and mix to combine everything. Once the dough is done, remove it from the oven and brush it’s entire surface with the garlic butter mixture. Be sure to coat the dough all the way to the edges. Sprinkle the pizza evenly with the cheeses, in whichever order you choose, and add other toppings if you would like. Bake the pizza until the crust is browned and the cheese is melted. This will take about ten minutes but may vary depending on ovens. Allow to cool before slicing! Serve with sauce for dipping! Enjoy!
As to “mud” I would have had to see it to be sure what the cause is. Was there dirt or roots in the mix? Actual dirt should be gently washed off – gently you don’t want to remove trichomes. If not, it sounds like maybe the plant material was too finely ground. I know a lot cooks recommend grinding the plants finely (and the Magic Butter Machine does it automatically). But I have found it is better to just rough grind as if you were rolling a joint, or even just crumble the plant material with your fingers. What you are trying to extract is ON the plant, not within it, and I find that over grinding just adds extra plant material and green taste to the final product.

Basil traveled from Chicago to attend Feast and signed up for the Sugar High class because he’s “just fascinated by the whole phenomenon of edibles,” he said. He’s never cooked with cannabis before but figured if he came to Portland, a city known for pot, he might be able to pick up a few pointers. A carpenter by trade, Basil has dealt with carpel tunnel problems in both hands for the last few years.

A standard dose of a CBD-rich oil begins at 10 mg – or 1ml (depending on the equivalency). However, it’s also possible to microdose at 2.5 to 5 milligrams daily. For more severe conditions, a much higher dose may be needed – and some patients are known to go up to 1 gram per day. However, a daily gram of cannabis oil is a very large amount and the attention of a cannabis-savvy doctor is always best.
When about an hour has passed, you can puree the blueberries, along with the lime juice and 1/8 of a cup of water. Once the mixture is about halfway done pureeing, you can add in the rest of the cannabis honey just like you did with the raspberry mix. Continue to blend everything together until it is smooth. Pour the mix through the clean sieve in to a clean bowl. Again, you can choose to eat or discard the seeds. Take the molds out of the freeze for the last time and (before pouring the blueberry mix in), put a popsicle stick in each mold. Then, fill them until they are less than 1/2 an inch from the top. Stick them back in the freezer for a solid two hours. Once they’ve completely frozen, remove them and quickly run them under warm water to loosen the sides. Serve to yourself or your friends. Enjoy your lovely medicated, homemade popsicles!

Performing the infusion at 150degF helps get the THCa, CBDa, and the rest of the cannabinoids into the oil. But that temp is too low to break up the THCa into THC and CO2. So I am able to do the decarb during baking. I find a brownie mix that needs 1/2 cup oil (which works for the proportions of ingredients that I use) and bake the brownies at 240degF for 1 hour 10 minues. (The extra 10 minutes just seems to help bake the brownies…but isn’t long enough to affect the decarbing “thermal history”).
